How did your passion for acting develop? Do you remember a particular moment in your life when you decided that you wanted to be an actor?

My passion for acting developed when I starred in my first movie entitled, Sooner or Later. After I starred in that movie, I was in my first Broadway show, Grease, where I played the role of Danny Zuko. After Grease, I continued to perform in starring roles on Broadway in such shows as The Pirates Of Penzance, Grand Hotel, Annie Get Your Gun, and many others.  Street Hawk was my first role that didn’t require me to sing and play music.

In Germany, many actors start their careers at the theatre and proceed to work in television / the movies  only later. Is it the same in the US?

I have had a very unusual career.  I was signed to Columbia records at the age of 20 years old, managed by Aerosmith’s manager, and toured for two years with my band “Rex” as Ted Nugent’s opening act. I played the last concert with “Lynard Skynyrd” before their tragic plane crash. Our next gig was Madison Square Garden. When I was playing at the Garden, producers saw my performance which led to my starring role in Sooner or Later. I went from hard rocker to teen idol overnight before settling into a long career on Broadway.

In Germany, the series „Street Hawk“ just came out on DVD for the first time. How does it make you feel as an actor when people still ask you about a series you worked on years ago? Does it sometimes get on your nerves?

I believe any actor or performer is pleased when his work is recognized by people on the street. One of my favorite incidents was when I was getting out of a taxi cab and the driver wouldn’t take my money, telling me that he and his wife had enjoyed one of my shows on Broadway.

Back then, „Street Hawk“ was not very successful but later the series gained cult status. What do you think are the reasons for this?

Street Hawk still is the only show ever produced starring a Superbike.

What people in America don’t realize is how important motorcycles and scooters are to everyday life in Europe and around the world. The show had a budget of over $1 million per episode, and in that time, that amount was an enormous price tag for a television show.

In that time, the mid-80’s, all the stunts were performed by stuntman and shot in real time, without the use of any computer graphics. There is an exciting quality to knowing that the car that just blew up was actually a car and not a clever manipulation of computer graphics.

Is it difficult for an actor in the US to be constantly associated with a TV series? What are your experiences with this?

I have done so many things with regards to show business that I never know the reason someone is stopping to talk to me about my career. It may be rock ‘n roll, daytime soap opera, Street Hawk, or any number of Broadway shows I’ve starred in. Therefore, I have never really suffered a crippling association with any one show.

If you think about Germany, what is the first thing that comes into your mind apart from the great website And have you ever been to Germany?  You have worked on great productions after „Street Hawk“. Is there a project which is especially memorable to you?

My grandmother was German. I bought my parents a three series BMW and picked it up at the factory in Munich, put soft ski racks on top, and skied the Alps for six weeks.

I have enjoyed Oktoberfest twice, and would love to come over to perform with my band for fans in Germany. Check out my website <> and navigate around the site. You can always contact my manager through the site as well. As far as my favorite project, it would have to beThe Pirates Of Penzance and Street Hawk.  I’ve also played the Daredevil in the last of the Incredible Hulk movies entitled The Trial Of The Incredible Hul”, which has almost 5,000,000 hits on YouTube. That movie was a back door pilot for a TV series, in which I would’ve starred as Daredevil.

Are there any productions you wish you hadn’t done?

Productions that I wish I had been able to perform in, but I stand by any and all efforts that I have been involved with. I welcome your readers to explore my music. has all of my six albums remastered and available for sale.

We haven’t heard a lot about you in the past few years. What are you working on at the moment? I read that you are also a musician. Is this what you are doing right now or are you still primarily working as an actor?

At the moment, I have just finished working in New York on a brand-new musical about Josephine Baker entitled Josephine.  I have also just finished a movie entitled Cats Dancing On Jupiter with Amanda Righetti from The Mentalist.

What are your plans for the future? Where will we see you next?

My plans for the future are to focus on all aspects of my show business career and do a better job. Also, my family life is really the most important thing. I always remember that “All fame is fleeting”.

With who would you not like to sit in a sauna?

I would not like to sit in a sauna with the Incredible Hulk when he’s angry.
